Never too old to play the beautiful game

WHAT IS WALKING FOOTBALL?

Walking Football was created in 2011 and has since become one of the fastest-growing sports in the country.

It was recognised that there were many ex-players of all standards who, although over 50, still yearned for the chance to play the game they loved in their earlier years.  The ‘proper’ game was likely to be too fast and physical for most older players, but there was no reason why a set of rules could not be established to bring these players back into the game.  And this is exactly what happened.

No running is allowed, there is to be no contact, and numerous other rules are set to make this a safe and enjoyable way to play the game.

It is 5-, 6- or 7-a-side, played on smaller pitches, with reduced-size goals, and a semi-circular goal area that outfield players may not enter, and goalkeepers must not leave.
